PUBLIC WEEKLY UPDATE

NON-TIME CRITICAL REMOVAL ACTION

EASTLAND WOOLEN MILL SITE

CORINNA, ME

 

The following summarizes WESTON's work completed on the Eastland Woolen Mill Site for week ending Friday December 08, 2000:

 

Safety Update:

  • Conducted daily safety inspections on the heavy equipment used on site.
  • Conducted air monitoring in work areas (Odd Fellows foundation and bridge excavation area).
  • Workers around the work areas continued to wear level D personal protective equipment.

 

Work Accomplished by WESTON:

  • Subcontractor oversight.
  • Continued securing winter cover on contaminated soil stockpile.
  • Completed backfilling Building 9 UST excavation area.
  • Completed cleaning of one frac tank.
  • Began removing pumps and associated river diversion piping from the site.
  • Installed a warning sign at the southern end of the snowmobile trail that leads through the site.
  • Operated on-site water treatment plant.
  • Continued general clean-up and winterization of site.
  • Lowered Odd Fellows Building 6".
  • Continued constructing form-work for bridge abutments #1 and #2.
  • Completed an approximately 45yd3 pour on abutment #2.

 

Two-week Projection:

The following summarizes the anticipated work to be completed for the next two week time period (December 11 through December 26):

  • Continue ongoing maintenance of erosion controls, construction fencing, and security fence around the work site.
  • Continue bridge construction.
  • Complete lowering of Odd Fellows Building onto new foundation.
  • Pour Odd Fellows Building cellar floor.
  • Monitor winter cover on contaminated soil stockpile.
